How can you tell if you are in the hands of a good aesthetic physician? There are signs that help you recognize one — and others that should send you running for the door. I will explain, sign by sign, how to distinguish serious aesthetic medicine — which examines, explains, and prioritizes — from the kind that simply wants to sell you treatments.

An honest, practical guide to recognizing a good aesthetic physician and spotting the warning signs before putting yourself in their hands. I go through the red flags one by one: being guaranteed a result; being told that a treatment 'carries absolutely no risk'; the doctor who says yes to everything (more lips, jawline, HIFU because you saw it on Instagram…); or the one where virtually every patient receives the same treatment.

I also explain why you should be wary of before-and-after photos that look too perfect, why you have the right to know exactly what is being injected into you (product, brand, quantity, batch number), what an abnormally low price really means, and the fundamental question you should always ask: 'What happens if something goes wrong?' (hyaluronidase, vascular occlusion, emergency protocol).

My final piece of advice: do not look for the doctor who says yes to everything — look for the one who examines, explains, prioritizes, and, when necessary, has the honesty to say no. Aesthetic medicine should preserve your identity, not manufacture the same face for everyone.
