Anti-obesity treatments: the most effective have the most side effectsA meta-analysis of more than 200 studies, published in the BMJ and reported by Sciences et Avenir/AFP, shows that the most effective GLP-1 anti-obesity treatments are also those that cause the most adverse effects. Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) and CagriSema allow weight loss of around 15%, versus ~10% for semaglutide alone (Wegovy). Semaglutide and tirzepatide reduce cardiovascular risks. None has demonstrated an overall improvement in quality of life; the hindsight remains limited. A major challenge for health authorities (recent reimbursement of Wegovy and Mounjaro in France, under strict criteria).Read Running: why insufficient sleep could increase the risk of injuryA 2025 study (Applied Sciences) profiled the sleep of 425 recreational runners and identified four profiles. The "poor sleepers" (short sleep + poor quality + disturbances, ~37%) had an injury probability close to 68%, well above regular sleepers. Observational, cross-sectional study: it shows an association, not causation. Sleep affects muscle recovery, alertness, perception of effort and pain. It remains one factor among others (load, energy, strength, technique). Key message: when sleep deteriorates durably, the body tolerates load less well.Read Losing weight after 40: why is it harder and which strategies really work? After the age of 40, losing weight often becomes harder: loss of muscle mass (sarcopenia), hormonal changes (menopause, declining testosterone), disrupted sleep and chronic stress alter the energy balance. Basal metabolism falls only slightly before 60. Effective strategies rely on adequate protein intake (1.2–1.6 g/kg/day), strength training (2–3 sessions/week), at least 150 min of moderate activity, sleep optimisation and management of medical factors.
